Smartsheet Classic FAQ

FAQ for Classic Customers

How do I access the new version of Smartsheet?

The new version is a separate application from Smartsheet Classic and requires you to create an account. Use the same e-mail address that you use to login to Classic if you plan on transferring sheets to the new version.

Do I create an account for my team and invite users?

This is no longer necessary.  In the new version, every person who accesses Smartsheet has their own account, uniquely identified by their e-mail address.  Sheets and workspaces are simply shared between e-mail addresses and people no longer need to remember an account name.

Are there differences between the Classic and current pricing models?

Yes. The subscription model has changed to reflect:

  1. lower rate plan options
  2. the removal of file storage and workspace count limits
  3. people wishing to create more than two sheets must subscribe to a paid plan.

All new accounts are created as Starter (free) plans and can be upgraded once you have logged in. Consistent with Classic, any user can access an unlimited number of sheets that are shared to them.

How do I get my sheets from Classic to the new version?

Sheets for which you are the owner in Classic can be transferred to the new version by right clicking on the sheet name and selecting the 'Transfer' option.  Please review this document closely before proceeding: Classic Sheet Transfer

Do I need to change anything with my Classic account?

No, your subscription and access to the Classic version will continue to be available even if you sign up for the new version.

Can I be signed into the new version and Classic in the same browser at the same time?

No. To prevent either experience from being interrupted, you need to sign out of one and into the other.

Other than the new design and improved performance, how does the feature set between the new version and Smartsheet Classic compare?

Please see the embedded view only Smartsheet below. (If you'd like to embed a Smartsheet as we have done here, click the Publish options link on a sheet's Share tab.)
