Smartsheet Forward

The energy from the stage during the opening keynote of ENGAGE in Seattle was palpable. That’s at least in part because we’re on the brink of delivering a completely reimagined experience, one designed to help you tackle your most pressing challenges with more efficiency and greater impact.

On stage at Smartsheet ENGAGE 2024 in Seattle, Senior Vice President of Product Experiences, Ben Canning, addresses the audience during the opening keynote, with a message on the screen behind him: 'AI has transformed how we work.'

At the core of this transformation is our dedication to creating a seamless Smartsheet experience — a platform that brings together all the tools you need to collaborate, manage, and share your work, no matter your industry. Our goal is to create one unified Smartsheet that helps you drive better, faster outcomes, enabling collaboration at any scale and harnessing the power of AI. Let’s dive in.

Bringing it all together with collections

We’ve just made workspaces even better. With new workspace collections, you can quickly create work management solutions built for a specific purpose and scope.

Collections allow you to organize and share essential items from your workspace — including sheets, reports, dashboards, forms, or even third-party files like Google docs and Figma files — in one centralized location. That way, it’s easier to manage your content and keep everything your team needs in one place.

What’s more, collections make it easy to curate only the relevant content, on a need-to-know basis, while the rest of your workspace remains hidden. Now, there’s no need to put your internal processes on display just because you’re getting feedback from a challenging leader, client, or other external stakeholder.

Collections are even multi-admin — meaning you can deputize a select group of people to create and share specific collections, so management is even easier. Whether it’s an enterprise-wide program or a simple home for your team, workspace collections can scale to solve a wide variety of business challenges.

Collections are available now to all our Enterprise customers on the new user subscription model.

Reduce meetings and speed up approvals with file library

A Smartsheet file library with various project documents, images, and PDFs organized into categories such as budget, marketing campaigns, and team documents.

Files are a crucial part of work, but they’re often stuck in separate systems and disconnected from where planning and tracking happen. File library for workspaces solves this problem by placing files alongside projects, making it easier to find, share, and collaborate — all within Smartsheet. Whether you’re soliciting feedback on a video, finalizing a contract, or working on social media copy, reviewers can now annotate and comment directly within the workspace. No more switching between platforms.

File library not only simplifies content reviews, it enables you to better collaborate asynchronously, decreasing meeting frequency and accelerating feedback.

File library will be available to all customers on our new user subscription model by the end of October 2024.

Let’s shift gears to another key factor for achieving faster, better outcomes — Resource Management. Having the right people on the right work at the right time is essential, but managing workloads and tracking tasks and resources can be tough, especially in fast-paced settings. Earlier this year, we integrated workload management into every project, and over 100,000 users have already embraced it. Now, we’re taking it further by adding more Resource Management power directly in Smartsheet. You can view detailed resource profiles, assign tasks, and even track time all in one place without switching between systems. Smartsheet now has the most powerful and most integrated Resource Management capabilities of any collaborative work management product — check them out!

Collaborating and working at scale

Since ENGAGE 2023, we’ve introduced new views like timeline and board to give you fresh ways to connect with your work. We also shared a preview of table view.

A project plan with various milestones, images, project types, and statuses for tasks related to architecture, landscape, and interior design. Each task is assigned to team members, showing progress such as "Completed," "In progress," or "Not started." The list includes items like "Front entrance landscape" and "Bar & Lounge," with start and end dates provided. An attachments panel on the right shows related files, including images of products and documents such as project briefs.

We know that table view is going to be one of the primary places you spend your time in Smartsheet. So we looked at each of the core capabilities you need for day-to-day work with the goal of making those interactions faster and easier. The result? Quicker filtering, a better find experience, and continuous sorting, making it more effortless to work on a larger scale. Think pasting a thousand rows at a time and deleting as many columns as you want!

Many of you use Smartsheet to tackle challenges that push the performance envelope. Your work is managed across thousands of rows, millions of formulas, and billions of cell references (yes, really — billions). Table view is built to handle large-scale projects with ease. It will support 10x faster formula calculations, quicker load times, many more rows and columns per sheet (for customers on our Enterprise plan), and instant saving, providing a better experience for even your existing large-scale solutions. A preview of table view is now available to customers in our Early Adopter Program. We look forward to making it available to everyone over the coming months.

Harnessing the power of AI

Two logos displayed side by side with a connector symbol in the middle. One, Amazon Q one featuring a hexagonal shape, and the other the Smartsheet logo with a blue box and white checkmark.

Alongside these enhancements, we’re also harnessing the power of AI for you to get even more out of your collaborative work management tool and your enterprise data. We’ve partnered with AWS to create a connector that brings data from Smartsheet to Amazon Q Business. The new assistant can securely answer questions, provide summaries, and generate content based on information in Smartsheet. It empowers employees to be more data-driven, prepared, and productive. The connector joins the rest of our AI lineup in helping you save time and unlock insights.

Unlock powerful insights with our AI tools — no formula expertise required. Analyze sentiment, summarize task status, or answer ad-hoc questions with AI-generated charts, all from your Smartsheet data. We’re giving all customers access to most of these tools through Dec. 31, 2024, so everyone can explore them.1 Want to become an AI pro?
